The advertising rules, built in
Section 133 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law says advertising for a dental practice must not be misleading, must not use patients’ comments about their treatment, must not offer a gift or discount without stating its terms, must not create an unreasonable expectation of beneficial treatment, and must not encourage unnecessary use of health services. The maximum penalty is $60,000 for an individual and $120,000 for a company.
So we write your pages without promises about results, without "specialist" titles a dentist doesn’t hold, and without before-and-after photos, which Ahpra restricts, especially for cosmetic work such as veneers. We leave patient reviews off the site. You check every page before it goes live, and Ahpra’s self-assessment tool is a good last check. We follow Ahpra’s published guidelines, but we aren’t lawyers, and Ahpra itself doesn’t advise on whether a particular ad complies.
