Free MX lookup
MX lookup. Who handles this domain's email?
MX records tell the world which mail servers accept email for a domain. Enter a domain or email address to see its mail servers, which provider runs them, such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, and whether email to it can be delivered at all. The report also checks SPF, DKIM and DMARC.
What it looks at
- Mail servers
- Every MX record on the domain, as published in public DNS.
- The email provider
- Which provider the mail servers belong to: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Proton Mail, Zoho, Fastmail, GoDaddy, Crazy Domains, VentraIP and others.
- Whether mail can be delivered
- A domain with no MX records, or one that does not exist, cannot receive email.
- The rest of the email setup
- SPF, DKIM and DMARC, which decide whether the email you send lands in the inbox or in spam.
Questions
- What is an MX record?
- A DNS record that names a mail server for a domain, with a priority number. Lower numbers are tried first.
- I changed email providers. Why is email still going to the old one?
- Check that the old MX records were removed, not just new ones added. DNS changes can also take a few hours to reach everyone.
- Can I look up someone else's domain?
- Yes. MX records are public, so you can see which provider any domain uses for email.
- Is it free?
- Yes. No sign-up. We only read public DNS records and do not store the domain.
